It’s ages away, but still preparations for going to Gozo at the end of October are well advanced. As things stand, those going are Dermot & Seamus, Bernard & Josquin, Jim & Carl, and Ron. All except Seamus go out on the same flight (Ryanair FR7242) at 7.15 am on Tuesday 21st October (he joins us on the Thursday). Ron hasn’t made arrangements for accommodation yet, but the rest of us have booked in to the Hotel British in Valletta for the first two nights, and the Grand Hotel in Gozo for the next two. Dermot and Seamus move on to Berlin from Malta, while the rest of us fly home together on Saturday 25th October, leaving Malta at 1.05 pm.
As Fergus mentioned in his emails, he has negotiated a special rate for our group in the hotel in Gozo, and has arranged for bookings for the opera to be made through the hotel as well. Having mentioned that, let me just remind everyone that the opera in question is Puccini’s Turandot, and the performance we’re going to is on the Thursday night (the 23rd). Some of the gang have opted for premium tickets (110 euro), which include drinks and refreshments and ‘Dinner with the Stars’ after the performance.
